Hey

Well first off just want to say I think everyone in here is a hero to go through the things we all do and still try to have a good life is heroic to me. I am 29 years old and have been getting break outs since I was 18. I spent four years in the military and got misdiagnosed everytime I had a issue. Which is probaly good because they would have kicked me out if they new what it was lol. But since then I have been diagnosed correctly but still havent found anything to releave my pain. I have lesions all over mostly in my groin area but here in the last few months I have had one in my armpit that just will not go away it drains all day long and its getting hard to move my arms so sorry to all that gets them in there arms it totaly sucks but the worst is summer is coming up and I used to enjoy leaving my shirt off because the sun always helped me with my acne but this summer is probally going to be different because it will be to embarrising to me if people saw the one in my arm plus it will be draining to shuu its going to suck. But I do have a question for anybody I live in a small town in Kentucky and prescription drugs have become a real problem here. I have never been prescibed any pain medication besides like tramodal or darvacet. Tramadol is the worst drug I have ever taken it makes you feel like your a crack addict and if you want to have relations its just isnt happening lol. But I am wondering if most of you actually get prescibed good pain medication like hydrocodone or perciset because every time I ask for something I feel like they think I am a drug addict which I totally am not I am a veteren, college graduate and have held a full time job for the past 3 years so it really sucks. But I have been prescibed really small amounts of hydrocodone when I get boils the size of baseballs and it really helped I would love to be prescibed so I could have a few a day it would make working and moving so much easier. I am already close to loosing my job because of missing to many days but I finally got some special medical leave that is going to help me out here at work. But sorry about the book just have alot to say and would love to hear if most of you do get prescibed good pain medications in other areas so I dont feel like I am just asking for drugs. But stay up hero's and hollar at me anytime.

Hi Chris,

I think you're right that any of us who battle this disease and still manage to live any sort of life are amazing - I know people have it worse than me which makes me sad.

I haven't had a huge need for pain meds so haven't had the problems you describe. I am doing everything reasonable to reduce the number of offensive, huge aliens I get - which obviously has benefits for every area of my life.

I have been taking the oft recommended zinc and turmeric twice a day for some time and I also take one 250mg asprin per day. This isn't for pain relief (oh, if it were that simple) but it seems to help the hs. I don't know why but it seems to, and it doesn't do me any harm so I'm okay with not knowing why it helps me.

Interestingly, recent research has suggested that a daily asprin dramatically reduces the risk of breast cancer deaths in patients who have had it and been treated - they think it is to do with the anti inflammatory effort. So maybe my body isn't crazy!!!

I don't have the link to the research but have included the link to news reports, if anyone is interested.

Now I definitely get fewer new lumps, and they tend to die down with very little trouble (it amazes me how HS has led me to redefine 'pain', 'gross' and 'little trouble'). My existing draining sinus tracts are proving more problematic but I will persist.

I have recently proven to myself that Coke is a huge trigger for me, probably because of the high sugar levels, as well as the caffiene. Which is bad news but no matter how much I like Coke if I can choose between Coke and HS I know that I can (have) stop drinking Coke.

So Chris, I haven't really been any help with your query but hopefully you might get some relief from the zinc and turmeric (and consider 1 asprin per day?). There are bound to be many other posters with the info you need.

Until then, stay positive, do what you can to control the aliens and... good health.

Cheers
Bridg
