I think we should write a book on all the stuff we have been told about the disease and all the "treatments" we have been told to do.

So for fun and picking up on an earlier thread.......this threasd is for the most outrageous or insane things we have been told about HS.......

Keep it short and simple. 

For Me:

You need to use antibacterial soap and you have too much testosterone. 

No androgen test was ever done.....then 33 years later when I had one done, the testosterone was fine, the estrogen level was three times normal.

I've got one.  After being correctly diagnosed by my Nurse Practitioner (god bless her), I went to a dermatologist who practically stood on his head looking at my crotch ( I was standing in the room as there was only a chair and no exam table).  After he straightened his head and looked at me he said "what did she say you had again?"  HE HAD NO CLUE WHAT HS WAS!!!  Needless to say....it was my first and last trip to his office.

you dont need to worry about ps it's a boil on the bum that obese,sweaty lorry drivers get.

you dont need an androgen test or your mineral levels checked just eat a well balanced diet........

come back and see me when she has a boil and i will give her some antibiotics.

this from a gp in this day and age and all in one appointment.....now looking into getting a private test may explore discipline avenues re her complete hostile attuide.

i wonder what notes the doctors write up after these appointments. i would love to name and shame. if anything does develop in my children i will be re-visting that doctor. in the meantime i am still pursuing active prevention. laser hair removal for the daughter who has red sores at the base of some ingrowing hair is top of the list at the moment while still taking zinc,turmeric,black pepper and avoiding cod liver oil........

for a person who visits a doctor and bringing information re hs/ps and obviously being affected by hs/ps to be ignored/mis-diagonosed/openly laughed at(me the last one) is getting to the point of legal action.

oh well at least when the doctor described the 'typical boil on the bum sufferer' i was able to described my extremly pretty,healthy,sports mad,underweight neice who has had an operation for ps. strange to witness a doctor blush and nearly choke on her own words.
